Dr. Klemperer was from 1928 to 1960 head of the Department of Pathology at the Mount Sinai Hospital in New York. An active fellow of the Academy until his death in 1964, a bibliophile and friend of the Rare Books Room, he left mss., notes, index card files and books (many rare) to the Academy library. The Klemperer lectures at the Academy were named in his honor, endowed by contributions in his memory.
